Yates

From its very beginnings Yates has prided itself on supplying quality products, and this is a company policy that's still of paramount importance. Although traditionally best known for its packet seed range, Yates now manufactures and distributes an extensive range of garden products. These include fertilisers, plant protection products, garden accessories, lawn seeds and potting mixes.

Some of Australasia’s most respected horticultural brand names come out of the Yates stable: Yates, Hortico, Watkins, Zero, Aquasol, Thrive, Blitzem, Nature’s Way and Dynamic Lifter. Yates trans-Tasman connection allows the company to benefit from economies of scale and a larger market. A long-established relationship with Bayer sees Yates marketing many of Bayer’s home garden products, an arrangement that allows Yates to bring some of the best new international chemical developments to New Zealand and Australian home gardeners.

Yates supports several worthwhile gardening-related properties and causes throughout New Zealand and Australia. These include Life Education Australia, Moths and Butterflies of New Zealand Trust, The Butterfly Musketeers Christchurch, Kids Go Gardening, School Gardens by Healthy Heroes Charitable Trust, and Trees for Survival in New Zealand. Yates also donates over 8000 packets of seeds to schools and community groups throughout New Zealand every year.

Yates is one of those long-established Australasian companies that has become a household name. This acceptance has been encouraged by the widespread popularity of Yates Garden Guide, which was first written by Arthur Yates in 1895. After more than a century of publication Yates Garden Guide has become recognised as the best-selling gardening book in both countries.

Dulux has been manufacturing in Australia since 1918 and in New Zealand since 1935. Today, it is a leading marketer and manufacturer of premium branded decorative paints, texture coatings, protective coatings, industrial coatings, powder coatings and woodcare coatings for the existing home, new housing, commercial construction, infrastructure and industrial markets. Readily identifiable with creating better homes, Dulux also plays a critical role in protecting and improving the spaces and infrastructure we see every day, including providing the protective coatings for Australia's landmark Sydney Harbour Bridge since 1932.
