Lawn maintenance
- Lawns need to be fed regularly during the growing season because they’re constantly being cut and they have to re-grow.
- The easiest way to feed the lawn is with a liquid that you can hose on. Yates Weed ‘˜n’ Feed is even better because it controls the weeds at the same time.
- Simply click the Weed ‘˜n’ Feed onto the hose and walk around, spraying over the right area.
- Weed ‘˜n’ Feed’s really clever because it removes the broadleafed, non-grass weeds and leaves the grass virtually untouched. Within a few weeks weeds like dandelions and lawn daisies will be gone and the lawn will have had a good feed to help it grow back into the bare patches.
- If you have tougher weeds, it might be best to use a herbicide like the Yates Turfix Gun. It’s a ready to use trigger pack that allows you to take aim at the individual weeds.
- Or use Yates Prickle Weed Killer to get rid of the prickly Onehunga weed before it develops those sharp seeds that are so annoying for kids and pets.
- The weeds will take a few weeks to die. Then you can feed with a lawn fertiliser such as this long-lasting Lush Lawn Lifter.
- Lawns that stay damp for long periods or are in too much shade are often invaded by moss. Treat with Yates Mosskiller & Fertiliser. Aerate by poking with a fork and, if possible, prune overhanging branches so that more sun gets in.
- An easy way to fill holes in the lawn is by sprinkling with seed from one of the Yates lawn seed packs. Yates Tough & Hardwearing is a versatile choice.
- If your lawn is relatively weed free, fertilise with Yates top quality slow release Lawn Master. It contains feeding for 3 months.
- Or, if you prefer an organic solution, feed with Yates Dynamic Lifter Lawn Food.
