Cucurbita maxima
An old time reliable favourite. Vigorous and heavy yielding plant with fruit boasting deep orange sweet dry flesh. Store well.

Full sun.
Sow
Early sowings can be started in trays of Yates Seed Raising Mix. Otherwise, sow direct into small mounds 1 metre apart. Plant 3-4 seeds per mound and thin later to the two strongest plants.
Care
Best on well-drained, fertilised soils. Dig in Thrive Granular All Purpose Fertiliser before planting. Harvest when stalk turns from green to chalk brown colour, cutting stalks where it joins the vine. Store fruit in a dry, sheltered, ventilated position. Protect from snails with Yates Blitzem.
