A Few Firsts Worth Celebrating

Over the past couple of days there have been a few firsts to do with the garden worth celebrating - our first sunflower, the first of the cucumbers, the first Cocozelle Zucchini, and Luke's first home garden certificate.

During today's prizegiving practise all of the home garden certificates were given out. The overall winners for both junior and senior section were announced at prizegiving this evening. What I love is how many personalised certificates are given out to the children. The judges pick out something that the child did or grew particularly well. Luke was proud as punch with his certificate for his pizza and salad patch.

There's something special about when that first sunflower opens too. I always find sunflowers a reminder that summer is almost here. It's my first year growing the Cocozelle Zucchini from Kings Seeds and it's definitely a new favourite :)
