Adjusting to life as a high school mum, has certainly added some challenges to our daily lives this year. Our easy mornings where the kids and I head in the same direction and come home in the same direction is gone. Instead, we leave 20 minutes earlier, have additional sport trainings and games to fit into after school and into the evening (late into the evening actually). We are home later, and have actually have no week day when we don't have something on. Admitably, we have had it easier for the last few years where the boys and I are at the same school, sports trainings are done at the same venue so we perhaps had less juggling than many others.
Combine that with two little pups, and my little and often approach was a wee bit hindered for a while (well throughout autumn and winter if I am really honest). Little and often still requires some time, and more importantly, some energy. With limited hours of daylight over winter, things were somewhat stalled to say the least.
That being said, over the past week, with one team done and dusted for the season (two more to follow this week), and some daylight in the mornings, the little and often approach has actually got me to where I needed to be. Just half an hour each morning, and an hour each day in the weekend, and I'm in fact, further along than I thought I would be, and it wasn't actually as bad as I had in my head. My garden, even looks relatively productive with a flowering tomato in the little pop up greenhouse. The radishes and lettuces are ready for salads,
My fencing remains around the back garden which protects it from little paws digging through things. Today the covers also went over the strawberries after I found a little 4 legged friend sitting in the bed yesterday munching on a not quite ready strawberry. The fencing around the main garden is not necessary a bad thing either - I now have more area to grow things up.
