Those pep-talks helped, as did a little more 'summery' weather I think, and we have lift off with the Zucchini.
I grow them vertical in the main veggie garden, as they grow I stake/tie them upwards, and remove leaves below flowers as they get bigger and more vigorous with their growth. Has worked well for a few years now and works well this way growing in buckets too! Definitely recommend that method if you're squeezed on space like me with a suburban garden.
This particular variety in the photo is a favourite. Zucchini Gold Rush. Quite a fitting word. You've definitely got to have some faith there's some gold to eventuate once you plant out - based on my experience these past few weeks.
