We have a daffodil in bloom - in Southland, at the start of July!!
We have had a reasonably mild winter so far, but a lot of good frosts and that cold blast that swept up the country. But every year this same daffodil bulb blooms really early, and I don't/won't see any others emerge for a while yet. Funny enough I had a Facebook memory about a week ago of it blooming it's glory, so it's almost on cue!
A few weekends ago as a spur of the moment decision, I got hubby to pull out all the apathagus out from the garden by our drive. I have never loved them, and to be honest was starting to loathe these ones. Every year I give them a good trim, and every year they come back bigger ane bigger and smother everything else in their way. So it was time for them to go. Thank goodness because it was a rash decision, I still have zero regrets.
I don't really have a plan on what I'd like to plant in their place, so I've laid more peastraw for winter while I ponder on it over winter.
