The lettuce harvests are mega at the moment!!
But we have to make the most of it, as I find it is too hot up here in Northland in Summer to grow lettuce, it just tends to bolt. I have tried growing it in part shade and under other crops and shade cloth etc, but it just doesn't seem to do well.
I have also tried varieties that are suppose to be more resistant to heat and bolting, but with not much luck.
This season I will try again though, in hope that when I have an influx of cucumbers and tomatoes I might just have some lettuce to harvest too!!
Has anyone in Northland had any luck growing lettuce in Summer?? Any tips or hints??
