Merry Christmas from me and my veggie jungle!

It’s been great sharing the past few months of my gardening journey with you guys :) It’s been a slow spring down in Dunedin at first. My carrots and beetroots took about a month to germinate! But since late November everything has been growing steadily and I found myself the other day in a veggie jungle (mainly because I haven’t visited the garden for a while as was busy with a new job). Here are some of this season's highlights.

Improvements and successes this year:

Tomatoes – early sowing in August helped. May have some for Xmas, last year they only started coming in late January.

Perennials – added lots more, like sorrel, horseradish and various berry bushes.

Cucumbers – this could be the year I finally succeed!

On Santa’s naughty list are:

Garlic – unfortunate weather, lack of space and, possibly, not enough copper spray = rust galore.

Broccoli – caulis are doing great but broc? Maybe it’s just a bad year for it, the heads have been loose and just have not delivered like last year.

I’ve enjoyed this challenge so much and want to thank you all for your great advice and support! It’s been a pleasure to read through the blogs and feel like there are people out there who are just as obsessed about gardening as I am :)

Hope everybody has a lovely Christmas and fantastic growing season <3

PS: look forward to seeing people’s giant pumpkins later on!
