Weeds are nothing more than plants in the wrong place that tend to out compete desirable plants.
It's possible to play weeds at their own game though, by picking fast growing plants that out compete weeds.
Warmer weather means salad season, and a couple of delicious, but slightly spicy salad vegetables are rocket and mizuna.
Both grow extremely fast, and together make the basis of a great salad mix. You can either buy the seeds separately or in a mesclun mix, and it doesn't matter whether you bought them as 'normal' seed or microgreens, because they're still the same plant.
If you've got a bit of old seed like lettuce or beet that you're not sure is still viable, you can mix it all in together and sow it reasonably densely, and hopefully you'll get a mesclun 'lawn'.
I've found this is a great way to beat weeds at their own game.
As you can see in the photo, there's very little space for anything else between the rocket and red mizuna. I didn't have any green mizuna, but that would have been a perfect addition if I'd had it.
