Today we harvested our 4th bicolour beefsteak tomato. This is one of our favourite tomatoes and Haven loves them. Sadly last year we never got any so harvesting them this year is a big deal for us.
They are sweet, full of flavour and can grow to a good size for a decent burger.
We grew these over winter in the greenhouse so they spent winter growing and as soon as spring came, they began fruiting.
Haven was kind enough to give me the end to taste and I can honestly say it was worth the effort. We love the red/orange/yellow that is over the skin and inside. Tomato masterpieces if you ask me.
What I don't understand is why we cannot buy beefsteak tomatoes at the supermarket. It seems there are only 2 options and in my opinion they are not the greatest tasting options too. I'm looking forward to being able to share these ones with friends and family so they can see that tomatoes can be so much more!
