It feels like it has been a long and wet winter... longer and wetter than any of us would have wanted. My heart goes out to all of those gardeners affected by adverse weather in various parts of Aotearoa.
But tomorrow is the first day of spring and to be a gardener is to be an optimist. So despite global warming, despite the uncertainty of our upcoming elections, despite the economic instability right now - we gardeners will till and sow and plant and nurture because we know that is what we can do to make our lives better and more fulfilling.
I hope there are lots of new gardeners taking part in the Growing Challenge this year along with the friends we have made over the past years. This is such a rewarding way of sharing our passion with like-minded people and applauding their successes and sympathising with their challenges.
Thanks to Sarah and Yates for giving us this vehicle to share our gardens with others and to have them share theirs with us.
