A friend and I were talking about growing carrots. I really haven’t had a huge amount of luck with root veg, and he suggested this idea for making a pocket of loose soil from seed raising mix the size of the root that you want to grow. Makes sense.
Once I’d made the decision to cut down the Brussels – that left a big hole in the middle of the kale and purple sprouting broccoli. I reckon I still have six/ seven weeks before the cabbage aphid turns up to swarm any remaining brassicas. The perfect amount of growing time for radish.
I dug little holes the size of my fist and filled them with seed raising mix. Each little pocket got a few radish seeds. Let’s see if it works!
