After some severe procrastination over the past week or so, I decided to take the plunge with a few more seedlings this morning. Well kind of - technically speaking they were just relocated from one warm sheltered spot to another. The only difference is that their feet are not longer contained.
Before work, nine of my little jalepeno babies were put into the polytunnel that was shifted over the weekend. This 1 by 1 metre mini/portable greenhouse stands just over a metre tall, and fits nice and snuggly between the neighbour's carshed (brick firewall) and our A frame, which one of the side ropes is secured too). It is also pegged on all corners and and sides. For ventilation, it has a roll up window, as well a zip door that rolls back (thanks for the reminder Neil). We won't leave this on all summer, but it will hopefully give the jalepenos a good start over the next month with our fluctuating temperatures. It certainly worked for our kumara in our paddling pool as we are at least 6 weeks ahead of we normally would be.
In regards to my tomatoes, which are growing in leaps and bounds, they are still in the porch, at least until after this weekend.
And on the flower front - the first of our lillies was out today. This one was a gift from my aunty last Christmas. At the end of this season, I think I will pop it into the bed with the other red lillies in the bbq area so I can get a contrast of colours. We also have more dahlias poking through in the front beds, and some petunias starting to flower in some of the pots scattered around the section. At this time of the year, everything is growing rapidly, and there is something new to see everyday.
