A Spring Saturday

The South Island has had more than it's fair share of rain over the past week and my heart goes out to all of the gardeners down there that are watching their gardens suffer from the deluge.

Here in the middle North West we are getting it this weekend. This morning it was cloudy but dry and very mild so we got out into the garden and tidied up a few jobs that needed doing. I tied up my climbing peas and sweet peas, we heaped up our Swift spuds in tyres and our agrias in the garden. SH mowed and linetrimmed and sprinkled some fertiliser on his beloved lawns and around the base of our espaliers. I trimmed and weeded the flower gardens and most of the vegie garden. We stopped for lunch and it started to rain... and rain ... and rain... and at 7.10 pm it is still raining. This is what the back lawn looked like this afternoon! Counting our blessings though - at least the fertiliser will be settling in!
