I am super excited to be back again this year! I have expansion plans and hoping the challenge will keep me on track again this spring.
New bed built today in the foreground. I just couldn’t for the life of me figure out where to put the spuds! ….. crop rotation really is like twister for the brain!
Nothing for it – but to build a new bed.
I have been growing spuds for quite a few years, but they are never as plentiful as I imagine they will be. I am having another go at Charles Dowdings “no-dig” method.
Cardboard on the bottom – spade-fulls of compost where the spuds will go, followed by cleaning up the last of the comfrey from around the garden and layering that on. “Swift” seed potato on top, then a layer of mucky hay that I needed to clean up from the horse paddock. But…I am worried about the hay. It will be full of grass seeds, and it feels a bit cold and yuck.
Does anyone have any pro tips for getting bucket loads of spuds??
I am looking forward to catching up with challengers old and new and being inspired by you all.
Happy spring.
