Coincidence?

So I've never been able to grow cabbage to full term, it's always been destroyed by bugs or just stunted and then..destroyed by bugs. This year I chose a mini cabbage variety, dug in a tonne of goat poo compost and planted a row of lavender next to them. I haven't done anything else, I didn't cover them and I haven't used any insect control. My cauliflowers in another garden 3 metres away however were destroyed by slugs and snails and two fat green caterpillars my son now has as pets in his bug hotel long before they got the chance to head.

I don't know for sure but I think the lack of insect damage this time around is thanks to the lavender and possibly the nasturtiums gone wild creeping in to the cabbage patch. Have taken notes in my journal and will repeat next planting to see if I have the same success. Fingers crossed!
