Right through the year I get a thrill from putting something on our plates nearly every night that has been grown in our garden (and that I haven't had to pay a fortune for at the supermarket).

Over the past year we have eaten so much from our garden that is either still fresh or that I have kept in storage, preserved or frozen.

Beans, cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce, zucchini, potatoes, kumara, onions, beetroot, tomatoes, capsicum, chilli, apples, pears, strawberries, cucumber pickle, pickled onions, tomato relish, rhubarb, feijoa, pumpkin, lemons, limes, oranges, silverbeet, carrots, peas and a range of herbs... it's quite a list when I think about it.

Tonight we enjoyed the first "tickled" new potatoes, baby carrots roasted in honey and fresh peas all planted within the last few months. The mushrooms I had to buy and the steak we won in a raffle while we were away on holiday so it was a very cost-effective dinner tonight!
