So yesterday was the first day of the Spring Challenge and it got me thinking about firsts.

This is the first freesia that is about to flower at our new place. It might not seem like a big thing but for me it represents a milestone and that once again we have our garden semi established. It is also exciting as we are finally settled so I expect to see this little flower year after year.

I don't know about you but for me gardening is full of firsts.  Although we have been gardening for years and years I still find firsts when it comes to the garden.

This will be the first time we grow Jalapenos (I can almost hear you gasp is shock Neil - might need some tips later in the season).

This is the first time I have used coir to improve my seed raising mix and potting mix and it seems to be working.

I'm sure there will be many firsts as the season progresses and that's what I love about gardening.  I would love to know what your gardening firsts are this year. It may be your first time joining this community (if so, welcome - we love meeting new people - you have found what I think is friendliest place on the internet). It may be the first time you are growing something or it could be some weird and wonderful idea you have which could be an absolute game changer or a total flop but hey... unless you try, you never know.

I hope you get to experience many firsts in the coming season. Happy gardening all.
