The wee cyclone that hit here yesterday and last night was a mixed bag in terms of the outside veges.
Starting with the bad ... all the seedling containers were completely submerged in the deluge despite being on what should have been the sheltered side. Does not bode well for the heirloom corns that had just started to germinate to have undergone fierce winds then torrential rain then being flooded. Have set them out to drain ... shall know in a few days what has survived and what hasnt.
The broad beans which were in a very sheltered protected spot were totally flattened ( do I hear some of you cheering ๐๐) , but to my surprise when I checked them quickly there are a heap of ready to pick pods on them that I shall harvest for tea when i am next up. It is raining again so will retie them after harvesting the beans from them. ( im calling this good news... an unexpected crop ready to harvest that i hadnt known about)
And to my surprise the eggplant is ok... its outside but not yet in the ground.
Raining again now. Good thing is the weeds will be easier to pull out in the main beds tomorrow!
