I am feeling a little guilty about this blog.

You see, here in Whanganui, we have had the most awesome weather. It has been sunny and warm since before Christmas Day. We have had the NZ high temperatures of around 25/26 degrees with little wind and the rain that finally arrived yesterday afternoon was soft and wetting just perfect for newly sown and planted carrots, brassica and lettuce.

We had a light fall of rain this morning but it cleared enough for me to do some weeding in the vegie garden this afternoon and the cloud cover meant that the 27 degree heat wasn't too awful.

My heart goes out to all those whose gardens are being affected by the crappy weather elsewhere in the country and also those families whose camping holidays are being dampened by the wind and rain.

I picked two cobs of corn tonight to have with our dinner - unfortunately they were not quite golden ready but we ate them anyway and they tasted pretty fine. Below the photo includes the corn, climbing beans, spring onions, beetroot, pukekohe long keeper onions, gherkins and lebanese cucumber, lettuce, capsicum and chilli and our new little houses with lettuce and newly planted carrots.

If you're driving - please take care. Your garden needs you 💕
