Today's meander resulted in a wee bit harvesting; our first cucumber. It was brought in and proudly shown to hubby who loves his cucumbers. It still amazes me that the plants are still quite little, but still manage to produce.
More seedlings are emerging too. These are the randomly sown ones that were put into the squash garden. These are mainly small sunflowers, a few more beans, another zucchini and a few pumpkins in grow bags (these will be allowed to cascade around the bark area). I also have a few random/unknown seeds that are popping up in random places. Weeding might be interesting as I try to work out if they are friends or foe.
My meander also resulted in a wee stock take of jobs for the weekend. The tomatoes need their laterals removed, and also the final securing from above with string. I've also discovered I can add some string to the top of the gherkin frame that is behind the tomatoes, and tie them to the top of the tomato frame for added height.
I am also keeping a close eye on the jalapeños and capsicums as I suspect that there were be flowers very soon. As soon as that happens, I will remove the covers.
The next few days are quite busy, but like always, I will try to find a gap and tackle a task or two. It helps me to avoid compounding jobs, and keep things manageable in the build up to Christmas..
