We’re only a few days into the challenge but it is so lovely to see everyone’s gardens and all the lovely chit chat between you all.  To quote James “you have found what I think is friendliest place on the internet”  I couldn’t have put it better myself!  And I’ve already picked up some tips – kumara starts will never be the same again – thanks Rachael!  That was certainly a ‘duh – why have I not thought about that before’ moment.  And you have all inspired me to get stuck into my to do list.  It is all very well having it written down, but if it is important enough to be on the list, then it should really be done!

Just in case we’re a bit rusty or for those of us who are new to gardening I want to point out this great article Yates have put out about The Beginners Guide to Spring  Because even sometimes I am reminded of things to do and think – ‘oh yeah I forgot about that.’  And make sure after you’ve loaded your update and chatted with the other gardeners to have a good poke about on the Yates website – while you’re there, because they are always adding to it and there are some handy new articles under the ‘Ideas & Plans’ tab and helpfully the ‘Problems’ tab has been expanded. It is worth having a look so you can recognise problems before you see them in the garden, so you know what you’re dealing with.  And under the ‘Plants’ tab are growing instructions for almost any plant you want to grow, including all the vegetables – with extra tips to get the best out of whatever you are growing!

The Metservice is telling me that I have a heavy rain watch for the start of this week, but it is nice and sunny here right now so I’m not sure if I should trust them or not…  But if it does rain I can just get on with sowing seed in the warmth and dry of the greenhouse.   I'm taking a little and often approach to sowing seeds so it doesn't take forever to do in one session.  I did my tomatoes on Saturday, took Father's Day off and I think today I'll get my brassica seeds in.

I hope you all have a fabulous week in the garden and as always – if you want to get in touch leave a comment below.
