There is competition for the first of the asparagus, and my opponent is sneaky.
Sneaky, slithery, slimy, slippery, sucky.
Every night – I peel off a family of slugs that are sucking the life out of the first spear that showed its head and throw them into my soapy water bucket.
There is not much hope for this spear, but there are about a dozen more that I am trying to save.
FINALLY, it is the 3rd season of my asparagus bed. The last two seasons have been torture. FINALLY, I can harvest them this year…. just when there is a massive population explosion of slugs!
The dogs and I have been slug hunting most nights for months, but they just keep coming – GRRRRRR.
