Pycnosorus 'Billy Buttons' is an attractive Australian native wildflower with sculptural golden-yellow globes of bloom on long stems, renowned as a 'secret sauce' for floral arrangements. A popular choice as a cut flower, it looks stunning and lasts well in a vase or bouquet. The flowers are easy to dry and can be dyed different colours.
Sow direct where they are to grow or into trays of Yates® Black Magic® Seed Raising Mix. Firm down, water gently and keep moist through germination period. Transplant or thin out when large enough to handle.
Choose a sunny position that is well drained. Add Yates® Thrive® Natural Blood & Bone before planting. Water regularly and apply Yates® Thrive® Natural Fish & Seaweed+ Plant Food Concentrate fortnightly. Protect from snails and slugs.
To dry the flowers, strip the leaves and hang bunches upside down in a warm dry spot. In cooler climates the foliage may die back over Winter, but will revive in Spring.
Store in a cool dry place away from direct Sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
