Beetroot 'Egyptian' is an heirloom variety with an unusual 'flat' shape. It grows well in shallow soil, which makes it a great option for smaller gardens. Sweet, tender and flavourful, it's delicious steamed, roasted or a perfect addition to a summer salad.
Choose a sunny, well-drained position and mix Yates Dynamic Lifter into the soil. Each beetroot 'seed' is a cluster of 1-4 true seeds in a corky outer coating. Soak for two hours before sowing to ensure water penetrates to seeds. Sow seed direct where the plants are to grow or raise seedlings in small pots of Yates Black Magic Seed Raising Mix. When 3-5 cm tall, separate clustered seedlings and transplant into their final position.
Grow in a sunny well-drained position. Apply Yates Thrive Natural Fish & Seaweed + Plant Food weekly and keep seedlings well watered. Make successive sowings every few weeks. Protect from snails and slugs.
Pick tender young leaves for salads. Sow more seed at 4-5 weekly intervals for an ongoing supply.
Store in a cool dry place away from direct Sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
