Vegetables

Celeriac 'Mars'

Gnarled looking Celeriac has a delicate taste, somewhere between celery and parsley. Try it raw shaved into a salad, mashed, slow roasted, in soup or French style in a remoulade sauce. Delightful mixed with potato, kumara or butternut.

Position

Full sun.

Sow

Raise in trays of Yates® Black Magic® Seed Raising Mix, or sow direct where they are to grow. Cover with mix, firm down and keep moist. Transplant after 4-6 weeks.

Care

Plant in a well-drained, sunny position adding Yates® Thrive® Natural Blood & Bone to the soil before planting. Water regularly and apply fish-based fertiliser weekly. Protect from snails and slugs.

Tips

Water frequently and regularly – celeriac demands a lot of moisture. Apply mulch around the roots in dry weather, to help keep the soil moist.
