With its bright green, nutty-flavoured leaves, this loose-leafed lettuce really makes the salad. Good in warm climates. Rarely runs to seed.
How
Sow direct where it is to grow or raise in trays of Yates Black Magic Seed Raising Mix. Transplant when 3-4cm high.
Care
Plant in a well-drained, Sunny position adding Yates Thrive Natural Garden Lime and Yates Thrive Natural Blood & Bone to the soil before planting. Water regularly and apply Yates Thrive Vege & Herb Liquid Plant Food weekly. Make successive sowings every few weeks. Water at base of plant, rather than overhead, to minimise risk of disease. Protect from snails and slugs.
Hint
Great companion plant for Beans, beets, carrots, cucumbers, onion, peas, radish and strawberries.
Store in a cool dry place away from direct Sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Originally bred by Yates in Tasmania in the 1920s, Derwent Globe produces deep red, globe-shaped roots. Flesh is deliciously tender, juicy and sweet.
