Big day in the garden today before the weather turns - again.

I finished weeding our new garden bed, and decided to take Sarah's suggestion and mulch to try and keep on top of the weeds.

I decided the most economical way for such a large area would be to use pea straw. I also chose it because as it breaks down it will also help with the soil structure, while adding nutrients to the soil.

I had a look at the weather forecast earlier today and it's meant to snow on Tuesday, so the peastraw will also keep my babies warmer and give them a little protection!

As you can see I've only added it where I've planted, so I can keep tabs easier on what space I have free! I have a few rows of potatoes, carrots and parsnips I also didn't cover, but will add more when they grow. Although I'm not holding my breathe that the parsnips and carrots will have great germination rates, as the soil is too heavy at the moment, but time will tell!
