A Bit of Crazy Love

As expected, the fine weather didn’t last, and the rain came back this afternoon. In all honesty though, I wasn’t too disappointed as it meant I didn’t need to worry about watering when I got home.  I used the time tackle an inside job before sorting dinner. I think we are at the stage where a few showers here and there will be welcomed – so long as it just stays as showers. The temperature also seems more stable too, which will definitely help. It just may not help with powdery mildew.

The highlights of the garden today would have to be the new dahlia that is out. I restricted myself to purchasing only three new tubers this year. This one, is Crazy Love. I love the two toned varieties in particular.

Daily growth from the tomatoes continue to astound me at the moment. We are now at the point where I am going to have to remove laterals, and I am expecting that towards the end of next week I will need to start securing from above. This will mean my protective sheet will need to be removed so that I can access each plant properly.

Another highlight would be the garden, which was the last to be planted with beans, capsicums, lettuces and carrots. it is also growing in leaps and bounds. It is hard to think that it was only a few weeks ago that this was planted out. This is part of the trio of gardens that have down the side of the property with the tomatoes, and the potatoes.

And finally, for those who were intrigued by the pineapple, I have also included a new photo. This shows the next stage which are tiny little purple flowers that appear.

(Other pics show the pumpkin and rockmelon as per yesterday's post. These guys are really taking off too).
