I've been super busy, not on the specific tasks I thought I'd be doing. Weeds are doubling and are taking up most of my time. Had to pull my silver beet plants as they have a fungus which I can't seem to control, so instead of letting them stay in there and help the fungus multiply I made the hard choice to pull them and feed them to the chickens. My lettuce is over run with aphids and I think it may have white fly as well so I'm trying to grow something a little different which I'm hoping will help. The Yates beneficial insect flower seed packet. We live up on a bank beside the road and it has a ledge between the road and the fence which is all weeds, morning glory, Ivy, onion weed and the list goes on. I managed to find some old carpet at my mums and have place it on the ledge to kill the weeds off. Plan is to kill the weeds off, add a layer of compost, sprinkle the seeds and hope the seeds grow before the weeds take over again. I will be planting trees/shrubs that grow to 1-2mtr high to act as a wind barrier on the ledge, not sure if I'm allowed to do that but it's better than weeds growing there. We had a wonderful day yesterday with a nice dumping of snow. Thankfully I cannot see any damage to my plants, lettuce got a bit of a frost on them this morning and it is looking like another -1 temp in the morning. I have planted more seeds of almost everything that I grow as a back up, and if not needed im sure someone else will be able to use them. Think it may be to cold for the slugs as there are not that many out tonight, or else they have figured out my routine 😂 I keep trying to post a blog but end up getting distracted and then forget to post it so im thinking maybe I just wait till it's late (if I haven't fallen asleep on the couch) to post 😅 I am stoked that it's going to be sunny tomorrow as I need to create more beds for the market garden side of things so I can plant out the seedlings. Had some fun in the snow, snow ball fight with the dogs and daughter and had to have my own Lightening Mc'Queen ❄️❄️. Sorry for the long blog, there's still so much more to talk about but I'll leave it for anothe blog lol
