For the 10 years we have been living here, I have always said I'll get a orchard up and going. I buy the trees, then leave them in the bags for a while (like 6+months 🀦‍♀️). Sometimes they make it to a bigger bucket... where they stay until l they die πŸ˜–. But not this time!!!! I finally managed to pull my finger out of you know where and placed them in the.... yes the ground!!!
I had ordered some fruit trees (full size not dwarf) a few months back. Knowing they would be here at the end of August I thought I'd try to espalier them so went about setting up something for them to get espaliered along. Decided on post and wires. This is the first time I've tried to espalier but kinda get it (well I hope so πŸ˜‚). Have just done the peach tree with stretchy cloth for now until I can find some long straight branches or bamboo to train it. According to google I need to do a fan shape. I have a peach, apricot, apple, plum and nectarine. Not sure how I'm going to espalier the others yet but know all but the apple is a fan shape. I need to figure out what year wood the fruit bears on yet but I'm sure uncle google can help me with that too 😁. I haven't taken the top out yet as I still have one more wire to put in at the top and want to see where the branches will be sitting along it. If you've done anything like this please share your thoughts and wisdom
