SH came home from work this afternoon and stood at our windows that overlook the vegie garden. "It's getting so tall and so green". He's right. Winter has finally left the building and, despite the rain and low temperatures, our spring crops are getting their groove on and starting to show off their delightful new colours.
From our back deck there is the silvery, glittery green of the silverbeet which has lasted the whole winter through, the intense green of the chives which have just started to emerge again, the grey green of the broad beans which are flowering and ready to produce very soon and the olive green leaves of sweet peas on the trellis promising to produce aromatic blooms in the not too distant future.
My 7 and 5 year old grandson's often ask me "What is your favourite colour Nanny?"
I tell them it is green.
