We are on our own septic system here and the drainage field is pretty big. As part of getting our consent signed off, we needed to cover the dripper lines with post peelings and plant in between them. What a mammoth task! The guy that delivered to post peelings couldn't get in the gate by the field so he dropped them at the other side of the property.  We had to move an entire shipping container full by wheelbarrow!

We now have a massive section that is dedicated to getting rid of our poo water.  Well that's what I call it but apparently it is meant to come out so clean you could drink it. Not sure if I believe that.

Originally I had plans of planting fruit trees on the field but after reading a few articles, I decided it wasn't worth the risk. Pathogens can potentially travel via the water. The risk is low but we have enough land that we can plant trees elsewhere.

However, we are growing luffa this year and don't plan to eat them so I figured this would be a great spot. The soil is free draining and gets watered all the time by the drippers. I'm also planning on growing our giant pumkins on the field too as they are inedible too. Hopefully they both like a lot of poo water!
