I sowed broad beans with both white and red flowers. I find the broad beans with the white flowers far more productive but the red flowers add some nice colour to the spring garden.
I give most of the beans away as they are not a favourite vegetable in my house but as they add nitrogen to the soil and produce a good crop of food I always plant a crop.
Of course the bees also love them at a time when food is hard to come by for them so it's a win all around.
