I would love to say that the top photo is of my garden.. but it is pretty obvious it is not!
This was a photo we took of a garden when we did our first (and unfortunately probably last) OE in 2019. Not far from Leeds, Nostell Priory features a divine kitchen garden - for me the stuff of dreams.
The reason I am posting it tonight is because this salad garden and its glorious chive edging inspired me to edge our vegetable garden with chives and a range of other flowers to attract bees and just generally look gorgeous. Last year I planted alyssum, a deep blue lobelia and marigolds along with chives along the front of each of my vege patches.
I was really pleased with the result. The edge of the vegie patch is generally not very productive and I feel that the advantages of both attracting bees and looking pretty were well worth the effort of putting in those flowers
