As I have blogged about before, we have had some success with espaliering fruit along our fence line.
We don't have the room for an orchard so espaliering was our solution to the lack of room problem.
We have four apples - Sturmer, Peasgood Nonsuch, Monty's Surprise and Belle de Boskoop. These have been moderately successful with crops increasing each year.
We also have three pears - two Packhams Triumph and a Red Bartlett. Our crops from these have been amazing considering they are still just young trees.
In autumn this year we added another pear to our collection. All of our other trees are predominantly for cooking or bottling. But there is one pear I love to eat raw.
So I am pleased to introduce you to our brand new Nashi Pear. She's only very young but we have our first little fruit just forming and I am so excited about them! I really didn't expect to see fruit this year so this is an absolute bonus. I can tell you that if these babies develop and ripen, I will be savouring every mouthful!!
