For many years I have wanted to grow potatoes especially agria as they are by far my favourite spud and often a bit more pricy.

After reading many a post about potatoes I've decided this is the year.

So I've done a bit of reading and there is some great advice out there but I've decided that I will try Simone's dad's technique of chucking them in the ground and hoping for the best.

In fact, I'm going all out and I'm using some store bought ones which I found sprouting in the drawer. Dug a hole, chucked them in and then got a little bit fancy and sieved some soil over them. A few little golden nuggets (dynamic lifter) and some composted horse manure went in there too.

You see, I have had my DNA tested and I have the ultimate secret weapon for potato growing. Turns out that I'm 6% Irish so these potatoes will prosper due to the luck of the Irish. Well that's the theory anyway.

If they don't prosper, I blame Simone's dad!
