Yes, the results of all of our hard work and effort are really starting to show now. I hope it is the same in your gardens.

We have harvested our potatoes and now the beans are going crazy, the cucumbers and gherkins are giving us a harvest of at least two or three a day (way more than we need) and we're spoilt for choice with salad ingredients - lettuce, spring onions, those cucumbers, beetroot, chives, mint, strawberries (yes, I use them in salads) and the delightful garnish of borage flowers.

The photo features our corn which is just starting to fruit up, our onions nearly ready to fall over and be harvested, our kumara finally ready to spill over the top of the tyres and our capsicum setting their first fruit.

I love, love, love this time of year. I am on holiday and today I have frozen  12 meals worth of runner beans, put gherkins into brine ready to pickle tomorrow and frozen another two bags of chopped strawberries. We had a barbecue dinner tonight featuring a bean salad, a potato salad, beetroot and a lettuce salad all from our garden.
