Seeing Red

We are starting to see red in the greenhouse with the strawberries starting to ripen. Strawberries have always been a dud crop for us and I almost didn't plant them this year however I thought one more try in the new greenhouse was worth a shot. They are growing like mad and I did the commercial grower thing and put black plastic around them. This seems to stop the soil drying out and also stop the fruit rotting. Being in the greenhouse we don't have bird issues either.

I also saw red in the greenhouse today when I saw Indy our beloved lab cross had trampled some plants and also pulled some bags out. Turns out she loves dynamic lifter as much as the plants!

But the coolest red for today is the red pineapple plants that Rachael the Northland Backyard Gardener gifted to us. Turns out we are 5 minutes away and it was great meeting a fellow gardener and seeing her garden in person. Sometimes it's hard to get the full picture with photos.
