It is bizarre that the official Yates challenge is over and that all of a sudden our gardens will start to produce like there is no tomorrow!!
I'd had a really busy day at work today and came home to the usual chores along with getting dinner prepped. I had most of it sorted - marinated chicken nibbles ready to put on the barbecue, crumbed potato balls (made yesterday from mashed tickled spuds) and a chicken salad. All I had to do tonight was collect the salad ingredients from the garden.
What a wonderful surprise it was to find my first Lebanese cucumber ready along with lettuce, spring onion and strawberries to add to the salad collection. Ingredients fresh from the garden, cheap, delicious and so healthy. The essence of summer gardening is right here.
