I adore sweet peas. I know I tend to say that everything I grow is my favouritist thing but sweet peas mean so much to me.

My Great Grandma, my Nanna, my Mum all grew Sweet peas in their gardens. I think the saddest thing for me is I don't know where they got their seeds from.

My Grandma would have been growing them in the 1930's - 60's, my Nanna in the 1950 - 70's. My Mum grew them for around 60 years from the 1960's until she died in 2017. How cool is that? I can inhale that delicious aroma and know that the beautiful women to whom I owe my existence also enjoyed that same intoxicating scent.

Did they get seed from their neighbours? Their aunties or their own grandmothers or grandfathers? I'll never know but it all adds to the magic of this special flower with a fragrance that is indescribably beautiful.

I know that I got this flower from a packet of Yates "Brilliant Fragrance" white sweet pea seeds. While it may not be a seed handed down through my generations - it contains within it a whole lifetime of memories.

The first of my sweet peas this year has made me very happy indeed.
