Trying new vegetables

I have a running list of my favourite seeds and the varieties that have always done well for me and that I always plant.

But the great thing about growing your own is that I also get to plant vegetables or varieties that are new to me and I haven't grown before and often these vegetables become must haves in my garden.

One year I grew Kohlrabi and now it's a must have for coleslaw and roasting. A couple of years ago it was bulb fennel and that too has turned into a winter vegetable must have.

This year I'm going to try growing rockmelons in my greenhouse. Fingers crossed I get at lest one melon.
