Weeping Skies

The sky has been weeping again here in Whanganui for the past few days.

I know it will end, I know there will be moments in the next six months where I will be praying for rain but right now - I have had enough.

Where we live in Whanganui it used to be a swamp. The suburb is called Springvale because of the springs and the lowish lying land. The soil is pretty rich and conducive to growing, but the water table is also quite high which means it doesn't take much to waterlog the soil. This year it has been more waterlogged than usual and quite a few of my perennials have suffered from the overabundance of water.

I have also suffered - probably too strong a word - but I am gutted because I haven't been able to get out on my trusty knee pad and weed and tend my babies because it has just been too wet. I would cause more harm than help so I have just had to wait... and wait... and wait. I thought the weather had turned a corner when we had sunshine for a couple of days last week, but today it is this again.

So sorry to be a grump... but I feel better now I have that off my chest!!
