The two most popular lime trees in New Zealand are the classic Tahitian lime and the Bearss lime. They're both ready to pick between June and August.
Although Tahitian limes are quite sensitive to cold weather, the Bearss is better adapted for the NZ climate. For gardens that experience occasional light frosts, a Bearss lime is a safer bet for delivering a good harvest.
When planting in a pot, be sure to choose a dwarf lime variety!
