I am so excited because spring starts on Thursday. After the horrible stormy winter, the weather this week is absolutely stunning. It is almost like winter is offering us an apology as a parting gift. Spring is definitely in the air, and I can’t wait to get started. But I’ve been gardening long enough to know that this lovely weather won’t last and there will still be winter-esk weather ahead, before things settle down into the consistently warmer days.
But that isn’t the only thing I am excited about for this week because it is also the start of the 13th Yates Spring Vegie Growing Challenge. I love this challenge so much because all of the gardeners who join in are the nicest people. It makes gardening through the turbulence that spring brings so much easier when you can share your highs and lows with people who really understand, in a way that Hubby the Un-Gardener can’t quite get, no matter how hard he tries.
So Thursday is the first official start day, but if you want to jump in earlier you are more than welcome to and some of you already have which is great to see. If you are new here I encourage you to have a look around. The most important place to check out is HERE: https://www.yates.co.nz/spring-vegie-growing-challenge/our-community/vegie-growing-challenge/ which gives you all of the details on how to participate and get the most out of this wonderful community.
I’d also encourage you to have a look at some of the other gardener’s posts and stop and say ‘Hi’ in the comments section, you will find they are the friendliest and most supportive gardeners who will always be quick to drop an encouraging comment under your posts. If you have any questions, just comment below one of my latest posts and I’ll help you out.
And so, in the spirit of making hay while the sun shines I’m off out into my garden to get a few garden beds ready for the new season.
Thanks so much for joining in and I hope we all have a wonderful growing season this year. Good luck everyone.
Happy Gardening.
