How To Grow Chain of Hearts

Oh, be still my beating heart! Chain of hearts (Ceropegia woodii) is a gorgeous trailing plant that’s perfect for hanging pots or baskets. The ‘chains’ can reach 3-4m long and the green-red heart shaped leaves are just so sweet!

For a beautiful display, consider hanging in a corner along with other trailing plants, like string of pearls or donkey’s tail.

How To Grow

Step 1: Choose a pot at least 200mm wide (or larger, depending on your plant size) and position in a well-lit spot in or outdoors.
Step 2: Fill pot with quality potting mix, such as Yates Thrive Cacti and Succulent Potting Mix.
Step 3: Remove the plant from the container, gently tease the roots and cut away any circled or tangled roots.
Step 4: Position in pot and backfill with potting mix, gently firming down. Water in well, keeping the water away from the leaves.
Step 5: After the initial water, let the plants dry out until the next watering.
Step 6: Feed occasionally during the growing season (usually mid spring to early autumn) with Yates Thrive Houseplant Liquid Plant Food. Apply at half strength to promote strong root development and healthy growth.
