What Happened to Spring?

Rochelle C is talking about growing Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, Herbs, Peas, Spring Onion, Zucchini from Northland

Spring was here ….. for a few hours.  It’s now pouring with rain and cold!  I planted some of the Little Garden pots we had left and they are dying to be planted out.  I was very good a couple of months back and finally filled the third vege patch.  Planted cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, carrots and peas.  The plants look great – but the broccoli is going to be a big disappointment with what looks like one florette (not one head) on each plant.  The peas are finally looking energetic, well that was until the lambs found them :(  The parsley has been thinned and the spring onions from last season have done me well over winter but are now going to seed.  The silverbeet also is a bit tirec and will soon be pulled and given to the chooks, but not before I have some more coming on.  As usual I have been optimistic and bought too many seeds (if that is such a thing!!) and I can see some of the lawn being converted for things like the courgettes.  Looking forward to actual spring – getting itchy fingers.
