Spring Gardening In A Beanie and Warm Jacket!

Simone - Picnics and Paddocks is talking about growing Beetroot, Lettuce, Sweetcorn, Tomato from Northland

Garden in progress

It seems that the weather really can’t make up its mind at the moment. Beautiful and sunny one minute; cold and wet the next. Gardening in a warm jacket with a beanie on, in cold rain is a sure sign that we haven’t settled into warmer months just yet.

I needed to quickly get out into the garden to get a couple of jobs done before school camp, so really just had to brave the wet weather.

The blueberries and strawberries are now covered, the potatoes have been mounded up again and everything seems to be doing okay. The lettuce, beetroot and corn seem to be loving the gentle showers we’ve been having.

While I was out in the garden I noticed the Borage has burst into flower. Hopefully a sign of better things to come – warmer days and more bees.
