Look for pests in the crown of the plant and treat them with a suitable product.
Make sure the soil is well drained at all times.
Top up the potting mix as necessary every 1-2 years.
Mites: Yellow mottling or bronzing of the leaves. Fine webbing and other debris on affected leaves can be seen with heavy infestations.
Mealy bugs: Newer growth appears distorted with a white ‘mealy’ substance in the leaf axils and crown of the plant.
Aphids: Small green, brown, black or orange insects that congregate on the new foliage before it fully forms.
